Mussoorie, gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas is the ideal place to escape the scorching summer heat of the plains. Its distinct British hill-station ambience is particularly felt the main artery of Mussoorie, the Mall. There’s a lot see at Kulri Bazaar and Library Chowk. In fact, haggling for shopping bargains with rosy-cheeked Tibetans is a favourite pastime here! From the Mall, a cable car goes up to Gun Hill, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the great Himalayan peaks. The highest point to visit is the famous Surkanda Devi Temple at 10,000 feet, down the Mussoorie-Tehri road. Perched on a peak, the temple demands a stiff 2-km climb from devotees. Kempty Fall, thundering down from 4500 feet, is also a major tourist attraction.
