Falling from a height of 80 feet, the Athirapally Falls in the Sholayar Range are the largest waterfall in Kerala. Situated among lush green forests, the silver cascade is a special treat to see during the monsoon months. The surrounding area is considered a biodiversity hotspot. The Chalkudy river is home to 85 species of freshwater fish, and the dense vegetation of Vazhachal forest houses elephants, bison, tigers, leopards and many other animals. You can climb to the top of the waterfall via a paved path that leads through thick bamboo clusters. A steep narrow path also leads to the bottom of the falls, through which you can descend to the bottom.
