The impressive Junagadh Fort is a self-contained edifice that has clearly stood the test of time. As you walk through one of its many gates, do keep in mind that entering it was never this easy – all through its history, this fort has remained impregnable – except for a one-day siege! The massive fort is constructed in red and gold sandstone, with beautiful carvings on its façade. The sprawling complex contains the palatial royal residences within. These chambers are richly decorated with painted floral work and marble inlays. The complex also features the Har Mandir, a private chapel for the royal residents. Offering a glimpse into all this past glory is the well presented Junagadh Fort Museum.
