It is no secret that sea turtles are an endangered species – from the Olive Ridley variety to the Hawksbill, and Loggerheads to Leatherbacks, they are all on varying degrees of critical lists. The Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery is a conservation project on Kosgoda beach, and is one of 18 turtle hatcheries along the southern coast of Sri Lanka – but unlike the others, it is the only one that hosts as all five species of turtles that nest in Sri Lanka. The project is committed to increase the rate of hatching and makes concerted efforts to facilitate the survival of baby turtles in their infant stages. This excursion is your opportunity to observe sea turtles of various species in the different stages of their lives and enhance your awareness of the issues surrounding these endangered turtles.
The pristine Bentota Beach, located close to Galle, sits on Sri Lanka’s South West coast, and is one of the most picturesque spots in the country.
