Take a guided walk through Mehrauli Archaeological Park, a magnificent remnant of medieval India. Home to many archaeologically important structures, the park spreads across 200 acres. The famous 13th century tomb of Ghiyas ud din Balban, the last Sultan of the Delhi Sultanate lies here. The tomb of Jamali-Kamali, built in 1528-29, is a bit of a mystery – Jamali, pseudonym of Sheikh Hamid bin Fazlu’llah, was a 16th century poet, but the identity of Kamali is not clear. Fronting Jamali’s tomb is An Englishman’s folly – manicured lawns with structures showcasing a blend of Indo-Islamic and Victorian architecture. You will also come across two enormous step-wells – Rajon ki Baoli and Gandhak ki Baoli. Gandhak ki Baoli was actually used as a sauna hundreds of years ago.
